Prep Roundup: BGHS hockey falls to St. Francis 1-8-11

Top-ranked St. Francis scored the final five goals Friday for a 5-1 win over Bowling Green in Northwest
Hockey Conference Red Division game at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter.
BG’s Dylan Graves scored the only goal of the first period, but St. Francis scored four times in the
second period and once in the third period. Tyler Murphy had three goals and one assist for the Knights.

Nate Gay made 48 saves for BG, which was out-shot 53-6.
St. Francis improved to 18-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the NHC. BG is 7-9-2, 0-4.
WRESTLING
Elmwood, Eastwood
each win twice
Elmwood improved to 12-5 in dual meets and Nick Goebel won the 150th match of his career.
Elmwood beat Lakota, 52-29 and Findlay, 58-18.
Eastwood beat Lakota, 53-15 and Findlay, 52-21.
Goebel recorded two first-period pins at 130 to reach the milestone.
BOWLING
BGHS boys win
Bowling Green boys bowling team remained unbeaten at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Lakes League,
winning at Maumee 2,584-2,504 on Thursday.
Ryan Chesser led the Bobcats with games of 236 and 215 for 451. Nick Jenne came off the bench in the
second game with a 231 game.
Eastwood stays perfect
At Fremont, Eastwood’s varsity boys remained undefeated (4-0) in the Sandusky Bay Area Bowling
Conference, downing Fremont St. Joseph on Monday, 2,939-1,961. The Eagles, 5-0 overall, were led by
Jared Haas, with a 240 game and 420 2-game total, and Tommy Blanchard, 228, 411.
Rossford tops Perrysburg
At Interstate Lanes in Rossford, visiting Rossford topped host Perrysburg on Thursday, 2,333-2,299.
The Yellow Jackets entered the Baker games with a 1,872-1,780 advantage; however the Bulldogs, 2-1
overall, 1-1 in the NLL, rallied with 553 for their three Bakers compared to 431 for Perrysburg.
Rossford had balanced scoring led by Cory Zalesak with 198, 383; and Austin Reynolds , 193, 382. Josh
Teneyck had the high game for the winners with 204; while Tony McCoy added a 200.
Jeremy Ashley was the high scorer on the pair for Perrysburg with games of 228 and 204 in his 432 total,
while Tony Batey added a 214, 380, and Drew Kuhr added a 208 game.
GIRLS BOWLING
BG tops Maumee
At Maumee, Bowling Green’s girls bowling team recorded an impressive win Thursday topping Maumee
2,140-1,464. The Bobcats are now2-0 in the NLL, 3-0 overall. Denise Miller led the team with games of
204 and 190 for 394. Eclipse Stockwell had the high game of 214 in her 381 total; while Kelsey Parker
added a 206 game.
Eastwood stays perfect
At Fremont Monday, Eastwood’s girls remained undefeated, 3-0 in the SBABC, 4-0 overall, topping Fremont
St. Joseph 2,561-1,708. Brandi Roller led the Eagles with a 216 game and 389 total. Jessica Young added
a 220 and 368.

BOWLING
Eastwood defeated Fremont St. Joseph, 2,234-1,677. Jared Melcher led the Eagles (3-1) with a 198 and 360.

Bowling Green dropped to 0-3, 0-2 in the NLL, losing Thursday at Maumee, 1,910-2,204. Richard Murray was
high for the Bobcats with a 214 game and 388 total.
On Wednesday, the team lost its opening conference match at home to Springfield 2,146-1,943. Tyler
Desmond was high with 191, 343.
Perrysburg defeated Rossford 1,967-1,765. Top scorer for Rossford was Sean Mallory with a 307.
