Falcon men face road test at Akron (01-21-11)

Bowling Green completes its first swing through the East division of the Mid-American Conference playing
at Akron Saturday with tipoff at 7:30 p.m. The game is being televised by SportsTime Ohio.
The Falcons, 8-10 overall, are tied for first in the MAC East at 3-1 and have won six of their last eight
games, including two straight. BG is coming off a 73-61 win over Ohio.
Bowling Green’s bench play has been solid for the most part all season, but in an effort to get the team
off to a better start at the beginning of games, BG head coach Louis Orr inserted Luke Kraus and Torian
Oglesby in the starting lineup against Ohio, replacing Dee Brown and Cameron Black, respectively. It was
the seventh different starting lineup this season for the Falcons. Black had been the only BG player to
start every game until Wednesday.
Oglesby responded with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds and Kraus added 12 points and three
assists. Both also played well defensively.
"We just try to put combinations out there where the energy doesn’t dip a whole lot," Orr said.
"There were some high-energy plays (against Ohio)."
Scott Thomas leads the Falcons, averaging 10.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He also has 42 steals.

A’uston Calhoun is averaging 10.6 ppg and Brown is at 10.1 ppg. Over the last five games, Calhoun is
averaging 16.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING AKRON: The Zips are 10-8 overall and 1-3 in the MAC East after losing their third straight game,
84-76 to Miami, on Wednesday.
Brett McClanahan, a 6-feet-4 junior, leads the Zips in scoring at 11.7 ppg. He’s made 43 3-pointers and
is 20-of-22 from the free-throw line.
Nikola Cvetinovic, a 6-8 junior, is right behind at 11.6 ppg and a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game. He
had 15 points and eight rebounds in the loss to Miami.
Brett McKnight, a 6-6 senior, and Zeke Marshall, a 7-0 sophomore, are both averaging 10.1 ppg.
Akron coach Keith Dambrot has started eight different players this season, looking for the right
combination. Mike Bardo, a 6-10 senior, and Quincy Diggs, a 6-6 sophomore, both started for the first
time this season against Miami. Diggs is a transfer from New Orleans, which dropped its status as a
Division I program.
