Perrysburg to host League of Ohio Sportsmen convention

Perrysburg’s Holiday Inn French Quarter will host the League of Ohio Sportsmen and Ohio Wildlife
Federation’s 103rd annual meeting and convention Feb. 25-27.
The program, which is open to the public, will include presentations from the Ohio Division of Wildlife,
the Lake Erie Charter Boat Association, the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Toledo Metro Parks, and
Russell Reynolds, photographer of the first Ohio Wildlife Legacy stamp.
On Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. a conservation awards banquet will be held, which will include a keynote address by
U.S. Representative Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, Vice-Chairman of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus
and 2001 winner of the League of Ohio Sportsmen Conservation Legislator of the Year.
The following award winners will be honored: Mike Sustin, of Chesterland, Conservation Educator; Marie
Keefe, of Fostoria, Youth Conservationist; Ed Moody, of Louisville, Conversation Communicator; David
Graham, of Clarksburg, Wildlife Conservationist; Ken Krimm, of Dayton, Olympian of the Year; Leonard
Mitchell II, of Columbus, Hunter Education; Ohio Senator Tom Niehaus, of New Richmond, Conservation
Legislator; and John Lieb, of Cleveland, Distinguished Service Award.
The Southeastern Ohio Sportsmen Association will also be honored.
Award winners will receive a limited edition, hand-crafted statuette produced at the League’s direction
by artist Jeff Littlejohn.
The President’s Luncheon is Feb. 26 beginning at noon. A full schedule of the weekend’s events can be

Founded in 1908, the League is the oldest conservation organization in Ohio and represents over 200,000
Ohioans who fish hunt, camp, boat, hike and enjoy the outdoors.
A limited number of tickets for the President’s Luncheon and Awards Banquet will be available at the
door. Tickets for the President’s Luncheon are $20, and $40 for the awards banquet and can be purchased
in advance by contacting the League office at (614) 224-8970 or by visiting www.ohwf.org. A full
convention package, including tickets for both the luncheon and the banquet is available for $95 either
in advance or at the convention office at the hotel starting 4 p.m. Feb. 25.
Any Ohioan can be nominated for the state’s awards. The League considers nominations in all areas of
conservation, including water, forest, soil, recycling, habitat, education, legislation, communication
and youth conservation efforts.
