Bairdstown mayor pleads in explicit texting case

Bairdstown Mayor Chris Barringer, accused of texting explicit images to two teenage boys, pleaded no
contest Friday during a pretrial conference.
Barringer faced two counts of disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile, a misdemeanor.
Bowling Green Municipal Judge Mark Reddin found Barringer guilty, and set March 25 for sentencing.
In the meantime, the court will conduct a pre-sentence investigation to provide information to the judge
from victims and victims’ families.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Barringer reportedly sent an image of male genitalia with
what appeared to be a smiley face on it to a 13-year-old boy Dec. 6, which was discovered on his cell
phone by his stepmother.
