Eastwood, BG girls advance to district bowling (2-18-11)

Both Wood County girls bowling teams advanced to the district tournament next weekend.
At Port Clinton, Eastwood won its sectional with a 3,718 total. In Napoleon, Bowling Green finished third
to also advance.
Mikayla Young led the Eagles with a 608 series, including games of 220 and 205. Brandi Roller added a 229
for 577.
“They took a little while to get lined up, but they did a super job,” said Eastwood coach Jay Young.
The Eagles’ team games were 853, 858 and 912. They then totaled 1,095 for the six Baker-format games to
easily win the sectional. Eastwood put together back-to-back games of 224 and 241 in their Bakers.
The nearest rival was Marion Harding, 349 pins back at 3,369. Fostoria finished third at 3,085.
The Bobcats totaled 3,401, including team games of 895, 790 and 795. Their Baker total of 921 included a
high game of 180. Napoleon won its sectional with a 3,486 total. Bryan was second at 3,440. BG had a
nearly 300-pin advantage over the fourth place team.
Denise Miller recorded the third-best tournament series at her site, and was the high scorer for the
Bobcats with a 210 first game and 549 total. Eclipse Stockwell made the top 10 with games of 176 and 174
for 499. Kelsey Parker had a 198 first game and finished with 483. Kelsey Hammersmith, 476 and Patience
Stockwell, 473, completed the team scoring, and were all in the top 20.
Both Bowling Green and Eastwood will be among 18 teams to compete at Interstate Lanes in Rossford next
Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
The top seven teams out of both sectionals earned advancement along with the top four teams from the
Minster sectional. Complete results were not available from the Minster site; however perennial power
Coldwater was one of the teams to advance.
In addition to the top seven teams, the highest seven individuals from other participating teams will
compete on their own at districts.
