Davis retiring from Penta

Tim Davis, the Penta Career Center director of operations, will be retiring this summer after 27 years
with the school.
Davis played a key role coordinating and overseeing the construction of the new 522,000 square foot
school which opened in summer, 2008. Davis said that now with the school having operated for two years,
it’s time to turn the keys over to someone else.
Penta’s board approved his retirement Wednesday. Superintendent Ron Matter told the board: "We’re
still deciding what we’re doing with that position."
Davis, a 1975 Penta graduate automotive technology from Maumee High School, returned to the school to
teach after serving in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. He later moved into adult education,
eventually becoming director of operations in charge of the school’s maintenance, operations and
transportation.
But, he told the Sentinel-Tribune in 2008, he always saw himself as an educator.
His retirement is effective July 15. He said he didn’t have anything planned after that date. That’s the
point, though he added he doesn’t plan to take another job.
He’s an avid motorcyclist and has a second home in rural Michigan.
The board also accepted the retirement of two long-time faculty members, Dennis Hoeft, a construction
trades instructor, and John Krytus a technology instructor. Both have more than 30 years of service.
And the board approved new three-year administrative contracts for: High School Director Jeffrey Kurtz;
Assistant Superintendent Randall Richardson; Adult Services Director Kevin Whitlatch; supervisors Angela
Dietrich, Charles Jaco, Susan Short and Daniel Weirich; and Frank Aten, information technology manager.

Supervisor David Ziemke received a one-year contract.
