Perrysburg wins swimming titles (02-15-11)

Perrysburg’s boys and girls won Division I sectional swimming championships, while Bowling Green’s Peter
Burroughs set a sectional record Saturday at Napoleon High School.
In the boys meet, Perrysburg finished with 408 points and Bowling Green was second with 297 points.
Burroughs set the meet record winning the 100 breast stroke in 1:02.27. He also won the 200 individual
medley in 2:04.97.
Also for the Bobcats, the 400 freestyle relay team of Jacob Burk, Burroughs, Brett Bushong and Brad Bozzo
won in 3:45.02.
BG’s other district qualifiers were: Bozzo in the 100 backstroke; Burk in the 200 and 500 freestyles;
Bushong, in the 100 breast stroke and 500 freestyle; John Reichgott in the 200 freestyle and 100
backstroke; and the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.
Perrysburg’s boys winners were: Alex Kloster, 200 (1:59.17) and 500 (5:15.6) freestyles; Bryce Fowler, 50
(25.07) and 100 (55.86) freestyles; Cooper McManus, 100 butterfly (1:09.67); the 200 medley relay team
of Andrew Young, Jordan Kelso, McManus and Mark Leimkuehler (2:03.86); and the 200 freestyle relay team
of Fowler, Kloster, Young, and Dallas Stiles (1:43.55).
In the girls meet, the Yellow Jackets finished with 570 points and Bowling Green was third with 391
points.
The Bobcats had three sectional champions.
Kristi Eikenbery won the one-meter diving (324.20); Ileana Ille won the 100 freestyle (55.64); and the
400 freestyle relay team of Marisa Martin, Ille, Nicole Castor and Bailey Burk.
Also advancing to the districts were: Mikaela Barbour, 100 butterfly; Burk, 100 breaststroke and 500
freestyle; Castor, 50 and 100 freestyles; Ille, 100 backstroke; Larissa Leck, 50 freestyle; Martin, 200
and 500 freestyle; and Sophia Postich, 200 freestyle; 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.
Perrysburg’s girls winners were: Kelsey Mefferd, 200 individual medley (2:25.10) and 500 freestyle
(5:26.51); Marisa Joldrichsen, 50 freestyle (24.55); Karissa Gordon, 100 butterfly (1:01.22) and 100
backstroke (1:04.12); Shannon Hambro, 100 breast stroke (1:16.84); the 200 medley relay team of Mefferd,
Hambro, Gordon and Nichole Henderson (2:00.80); and the 200 freestyle relay team of Gordon, Henderson,
Mefferd and Hambro (1:48.67).
In the Division II boys meet, Eastwood was eighth with 54 points.
Eastwood’s Nathan Decker was second in both the100 butterfly and 500 freestyle to advance to the district
meet.
In the Division II girls meet, Eastwood was eighth with 31 points and Elmwood was 11th with 14 points.

Eastwood’s Tori Nabors advanced in the 500 freestyle and 200 individual medley.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
North Baltimore 50, Cardinal Stritch 29
In Oregon, NB led 13-1 after the first quarter and cruised to the non-league victory.
The Tigers, 12-7 overall, were led by Rachel Flores, who finished with 10 points and five steals.
Megan Wright added eight points, 10 rebounds and five steals for the Tigers.
Stritch (3-16) did not have a player score more than eight points.
BOYS BOWLING
Eastwood boys clinch
Eastwood’s boys clinched the Sandusky Bay Area Bowling Conference title on Friday with a win at home over
Woodmore, 2,962-2,256.
The Eagles moved their record to 12-1, and 13-2 overall.
John Przybylski led the team with games of 221 and 204 for26. Tommy Blanchard added 226, 414; while Kyle
Waynick rolled a 218, 406.
GIRLS BOWLING
Eagles remain undefeated
At Varsity Lanes, Eastwood girls remained undefeated in match play with a 2,752-1,942 win over Woodmore
on Friday.
The Eagles are 11-0 in the SBABC conference, 13-0 overall. They have clinched the conference title.
Brandi Roller led the team with an excellent set of 243 and 236 for 479; while Mikayla Young added 228
and 203 for 431.
Junior varsity results
BOWLING
Eastwood (10-2, 12-2) defeated Woodmore, 2,439-1,697. John Fredericks was high with a 190 game and 352
total.

Genoa beat Elmwood, 46-40. Leaders for Elmwood were: Trevor Solether and Philip Buckingham.
Bowling Green Christian Academy beat Apostolic Christian, 51-44. Gavin Winters scored a school-record 28
points for BG, 12-8. Steven Speck added 15 points for BG.
