Arts council seeking
art leaves for show
PERRYSBURG – The Perrysburg Area Arts Council is accepting entries for its Art leaves project, a
community art exhibit that will be on display during the Fiber Art Show at The 577 Foundation, June 4
and 5.
The leaves can be made from any material but it must be weatherproof and in the shape of the template
provided.

‘Air and Simple Gifts’
featured on recital
MAUMEE – The Cathay Trio will perform a Chamber Music Toledo concert Sunday at 3 p.m. at First
Presbyterian Church of Maumee, 200 E. Broadway.
The trio – Merwin Siu, violin, Amy Chang, cello, and Michael Boyd, piano Cheryl Trace – will be joined by
clarinetist Jocelyn Langworthy in a program featuring John Williams’ "Air and Simple Gifts," a
piece the famed film composer wrote for President Obama’s inauguration.
The concert will also feature music by Johannes Brahms, Bela Bartok and Peter Schickele.
Tickets are $12 in advance, and $15 at the door and $5 for those over 65 or between the ages of 6 and 18.

Orchestra to play Haydn
& Hummel trumpet concerto
SYLVANIA – The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will perform music by Joseph Haydn and J.N. Hummel Saturday at
7:30 p.m. in the Franciscan Center on the campus of Lourdes College.
Conducted by Jeffrey Pollock, the orchestra will perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 64, "Tempora
Mutantur" and Symphony No. 92 "Oxford." Also, the orchestra’s principal trumpet Lauraine
Carpenter will be the soloist on Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto.

Irish legacy is focus of PBS documentary
PERRYSBURG – Reel Opinions, Way Public Library’s documentary film viewing and discussion series
co-sponsored by WGTE Public Media, will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day March 17 with "Cornerstones:
The Irish," a documentary about the early Irish settlers to the Toledo area.
This locally-produced documentary will be shown on the lower lever of the library at 10:30 a.m., with
discussion following at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Refreshments will be served at this free event.
Greg Tye, the producer of the program, will be the special guest at the event.
Indiana comic brings
Good/Bad act to BG
Scott Log will bring his Good Scott/Bad Scott! act to Comedy Night Tuesday at 9 p.m. at Grumpy Dave’s,
104 S. Main St., Bowling Green.
The Indiana-based comic has worked with NFL Films and performed at Lollapalooza.
Opener is Brett Eastburn.
Tickets are $5 and $3 for students.
Waterville Playshop seeks directors for new season
WATERVILLE – The Waterville Playshop is seeking directors for its 2011-2012 Season, "Celebrating 60
Years of Family, Friendship and Fun."
Each of the season’s productions to celebrate one of those themes. Plays scheduled are:
¥ Family is celebrated with "Sound of Music," being staged Oct. 21-23.
¥ Friendship is celebrated with "Dixie Swim Club," Feb. 10-12, 2012.
¥ Fun is celebrated with "Seussical The Musical" May 4-6, 2012.
All plays are staged in the Maumee Indoor Theatre.

Irish party show in Toledo
TOLEDO – Andy Cooney’s Forever Irish Party Show will be staged at the Stranahan Theater March 16 at 2
p.m.
The show features in addition to the leader’s songs and stage patter comedian George Casey and folk
artist Kate Purcell, from County Clare an Cooney’s Irish orchestra.
