BGSU choruses to sing ‘Ode to Joy’ in Toledo
TOLEDO – Singers from Bowling Green State University will join the Toledo Symphony, conducted by Stefan
Sanderling, in a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Toledo
Museum of Art Peristyle.
The symphony celebrates the human spirit, culminating in Schiller’s "Ode to Joy." Vocal
soloists are: Arianna Zukerman, Scott Ramsay, Stacey Rishoi and. Richard Zeller.

Photo exhibits explores Glass city landscapes
TOLEDO – "The Glass City Landscape: 10 Area Artists Interpret the Urban Landscape of Toledo"
continues through Feb. 25, 2011 in the Parkwood Gallery.
A reception will be held Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m.. The gallery is located at 1838 Parkwood Ave., Suite
120 off of Monroe Street
This exhibition, curated by Seder Burns, faculty of the University of Toledo Art Department, includes
works created by his photography students: John Aston, Fred Bretzloff, Susan Castillo, Aubrey
Kirkendall, Kristen Long, Katy Payne, Noah Roszczipka, Jacob Tebbe, and Cherilyn Von Maluski as well as
his own work.
The show is presented by The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo.

Opera gala has ‘Ring’ theme
TOLEDO – The Toledo Opera will present excerpts from Richard Wagner’s "Ring of the Nibelungs"
at its 2011 Opera Gala, "The Romance of the Ring," at 8 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the Toledo Museum
of Art Peristyle.
Wagner envisioned a grand exploit – part fairy tale, part allegory – told in four operatic episodes.
Soloists for "The Romance of the Ring" are soprano Deborah Mayer, tenor Michael Hayes, and bass
Gustav Andreassen accompanied by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra directed by Thomas Conlin.
Tickets begin at $30. Student tickets are available for $10 one-half hour prior to curtain, and senior

Rep reads funeral comedy
TOLEDO – The Toledo Rep will present a Edgy Rep Reading of "Three Viewings" Saturday at 8 p.m.
Studio A at the Valentine Theatre, 410 Adams St..
Written by Jeffrey Hatcher and directed by Kate Abu-Absi, the play, for mature audiences, is a trio of
comic-dramatic monologues, set in a Midwestern funeral parlor over a three-day Christmas weekend.Tickets
are $10.
UT hosts pianist Nagel
TOLEDO – Pianist Louis Nagel will perform and teach during a visit to the University of Toledo as part of
the Dorothy MacKenzie Price Piano Series.
Nagel will perform a recital program featuring the works of Bach, Mozart, and Schumann and will include
Mozart’s Piano Sonata in A minor and J.S. Bach’s French Suite in E major on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the
Performing Arts Recital Hall.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon he will present a master class.
Nagel has been performing for more than 50 years. He has taught at the University of Michigan since 1969,
and performs internationally as well as in a variety of regional venues.
