BG’s Prochaska earns honor
CLEVELAND — Bowling Greenwomen’s basketball senior Lauren Prochaska has been named the Mid-American
Conference’s female scholar-athlete of the week.
Prochaska led all players with 28 points in the Falcons’ lone game last week, a 73-64 win at Butler that
closed the non-conference portion of the schedule. Prochaska also had six rebounds, four assists and
four steals in the win in Indianapolis.
In the classroom, Prochaska has a 3.24 cumulative grade-point average as a sport management major.
Hurricanes recall Matsumoto
RALEIGH, N.C. —Former Bowling Green Falcon standout Jon Matsumoto was recalled Friday by the NHL’s
Carolina Hurricanes for the third time this season. He had been playing for the American Hockey League’s
Charlotte Checkers.
Matsumoto, 24, has two goals in 11 games with the Hurricanes, and 10 goals and 14 assists in 25 AHL
games. He was recalled after forward Jiri Tlusty was placed on injured reserve because of an upper body
injury.
Matsumoto, a forward was a third-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2006 and was traded to the
Hurricanes last summer.
Matsumoto had 49 goals and 64 assists in 110 games at BG from 2004-07. He’s in his first NHL season and
has 91 goals and 106 assists in 276 AHL games.
North bowls first 300 game
Ken North, bowling the Speck Sales 750 House league at Varsity Lanes on Wednesday, recorded his first 300
game.
He finished the night with a 718 series. His previous high was 290.
