Prep roundup for 1-14-11 — NB girls beat Lakota

NB win its 10th game of the season, downing Lakota, 51-37 in Midland Athletic League action Thursday.
In a Toledo Area Athletic Conference girls game, Northwood defeated Maumee Valley, 52-34.
In Suburban Lakes League boys games, it was: Elmwood 65, Otsego 41; Lake 67, Gibsonburg 65; and Woodmore
57, Genoa 51.
GIRLS
North Baltimore 51, Lakota 37
In Kansas, Lakota held an 11-9 lead after one quarter, but North Baltimore out-scored the Raiders, 42-26
over the final three quarters to gain the win. NB is 10-3 overall and 3-2 in the MAL while Lakota is
2-9, 0-6.
Rachel Flores led NB with 14 points and five steals. Jessica Casey and Jessica Frost each added eight
points with Frost pulling down seven rebounds. Miranda Woodruff had five assists for NB.
Dani Chaffee had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Lakota.
Northwood 52, Maumee Valley 34
In Toledo, Northwood won every quarter on the way to a TAAC win over Maumee Valley Thursday. Northwood is
4-7 overall and 3-2 in the TAAC. Maumee Valley 2-7, 0-5.
Sandy Koch led Northwood with 14 points and Kelly Sawmiller added 11.
BOYS
Lake 65, Gibsonburg 65
In Gibsonburg, Lake scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to rally past Gibsonburg in SLL play. Lake is
now 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the SLL while Gibsonburg is 4-4, 2-2.
The Flyers trailed 52-47 heading into the final eight minutes.
Ra’Shad Smith scored 24 points for Lake while Josh Tantari had 12 points and five assists and Dylan
Hirzel scored eight points and had 10 rebounds.
Gage Beaber led Gibsonburg with 21 points, 10 assists and added five rebounds. Nate Yarborogh contributed
17 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Bears.
Woodmore 57, Genoa 51
In Genoa, Woodmore out-scored the Comets, 34-14 in the middle two quarters on the way to the SLL win.
Woodmore is 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the SLL while Genoa is 2-5, 0-4.
Bryan Kuhlman led Woodmore with 16 points. Stephen Clark led Genoa with 13 points.

BOYS
BG splits dual meets
In Oak Harbor, Bowling Green defeated Springfield, 61-19 and lost to Oak Harbor, 63-38.
Peter Burroughs and Brett Bushong each won two individual events for the Bobcats.
Burroughs won the 100 butterfly (58.34) and 100 breast stroke (1:04.55) and Bushong won the 200 (2:03.71)
and 500 (5:27.60) freestyles.
Also for BG, Jacob Burk won the 100 backstroke (1:06.70).
GIRLS
Bobcats split dual meets
In Oak Harbor, Bowling Green defeated Springfield, 84-15 and lost to Oak Harbor, 58-44
Bailey Burk, Ilenna Ille and Marisa Martin each won two individual events for Bowling Green.
Burk won the 100 (58.86) and 200 (2:08.82) freestyles. Ille won the 50 freestyle (26.28) and 100
butterfly (1:05.01). Martin won the 200 individual medley (2:30.38) and 500 freestyle (5:38.04).
Also for BG, Emily Myers won the one-meter diving (178.10) and the 400 freestyle team of Ille, Burk,
Martin and Nicole Castor won in 4:02.18.
WRESTLING
Recknagel earns 100th win;
Rossford 40, Maumee 36
In Rossford, the Bulldogs’ DJ Recknagel earned the 100th victory of his prep wrestling career with a pin
of Tony Torres in 1:08 at 215 pounds Thursday.
The match was the final one of the dual meet and Recknagel’s pin gave Rossford the Northern Lakes League
win over Maumee.
Rossford’s Jake Burlage (112) and Steve Nordhaus (171) also won by pin.
Perrysburg 40, Southview 26
Perrysburg had four major decisions and a pin on the way to its NLL win over Southview.

Rossford’s Thomas Carter, Tom Seler and Ben Thompson all won by pin in matches against Maumee.

Otsego defeated Elmwood, 50-16. Top performers for Elmwood were: Jordan Andrich and Jayden Edwards.
Lake defeated Gibsonburg 65-34 and is now 4-1. Leading scorers for Lake were: Jared Rettig with 26 points
and Connor Bowen with 19 points.

Otsego defeated Elmwood 37-20. Otsego’s leading scorers were Maddy Asmus and Haley Amos.
Perrysburg opened its season with a 33-17 win over Eastwood. Christine Pavelko, Katie Diehl, Maddie Myers
and Beth Glowacki were Perrsyburg’s leaders.
