Equity plant suspends work due to roof worries

NORTH BALTIMORE – Keystone Foods’ Equity Ohio facility suspended production Thursday and sent employees
home after snow and ice on the roof of the plant caused a joist to begin to give way.
The incident occurred in the cooler section of the facility, and no one was injured.
Structural engineers have been called in to evaluate the damage. While the roof remains intact, Keystone
officials dismissed all employees at 1:30 p.m. out of an abundance of caution, according to Maureen
Garrity, spokesperson for Keystone.
In order to continue to ensure all employees’ safety, operations will continue to be suspended today as
repairs are made. Production is expected to resume on Saturday.
Equity Ohio, on Grant Road, is a division of Keystone Foods.
