Neva J. Snyder

Neva J. (Spilker) Snyder, 89, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio
in Perrysburg.
She was born December 18, 1921 in Perrysburg Township to Orrell and Anna (Sargent) Spilker and was
married August 2, 1951 to Clayton C. Snyder.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and received
her Masters of Education from The University of Toledo.
Mrs. Snyder held an Ohio Permanent Teaching Certificate and had a sincere interest in helping students
become responsible citizens. Before joining the Perrysburg teaching staff in 1948, Mrs. Snyder had
taught for five years at Glenwood School in Perrysburg Township and for two years, she was a Principal
and teacher at Grant School, Shelby, Ohio.
Mrs. Snyder was an active member in the Perrysburg Education Association during her teaching years. She
was a Life Member of OEA and the NEA. She served as Past Chairman of the Intermediate Department of
Northwestern Ohio Education Association and was an interested member in the Toledo Area International
Reading Council. Mrs. Snyder was also interested in gardening, antique glassware and visiting historical
sites in Ohio and surrounding states.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton (2005); parents; sisters, Lucille
Burkhart-Reigle-Lahman and Violet Simpson; brother, Robert Spilker; sister-in-law, Patricia Spilker;
brothers-in-law, Gordon Burkhart, Robert Reigle, Delmar Lahman, Newton Simpson, and Willard Schwisow.

Survivors include her sister, Faye Schwisow, nieces, nephews, dear friends, great-nieces and
great-nephews and cousins.
To honor Neva’s wishes there will not be any visitation and burial will be private in New Belleville
Ridge Cemetery, Dowling, Ohio, with Pastor Albert Nelson officiating.

the library at Toth Elementary or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
