Modesta Rosalez

Modesta Rosalez, 86, a retired businesswoman passed away on Monday, March 1st, 2011 surrounded by her
loving family.
Modesta, along with her husband owned and operated Rosalez Dry Cleaners on Main Street in Bowling Green,
for 20 years until they retired and sold the business in August 1991.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She and her
friends gathered weekly for bible study.
Modesta was a member of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association, and
a past member of the Guadalupe Society.
She was a giving and loyal person. She had a great sense of humor and was always encouraging others to
move forward in life. She felt very fortunate to have a wonderful family and many good friends.
She taught and encouraged many widows to drive so that they would remain independent. She was our
‘ever-ready bunny’, and always on the go. She had the opportunity to be part of Pope John Paul II’s
audience in Rome in 1994.
She was an avid volunteer at the Wood County Senior Citizens Center. Modesta also enjoyed sewing and
cooking for her family.
She was born November 13, 1924 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Quirino and Ramona (Ortiz) Esquivel. She
married Eusebio Rosalez on July 14, 1944, and he preceded her in death.
Modesta is survived by her two children: her son, Rafael "Ray" (Rosa) Rosalez of Las Cruces,
New Mexico; and her daughter, Raquel (Cosme) Ribé of Woodville, Ohio; son-in-law, Jon C. Givens of
Rossford, Ohio; and six grandchildren: JR Givens, Jennifer (Drew) Moorman, Rey (Tiffany) Rosalez,
Rebecca (Davin) Epperson, Josep Ribé, and Marc Ribé and ten great-grandchildren: Liam Givens, Jack
Moorman, Mary Rose Moorman, Sean Jacob Rowles, Lorielle Rosalez, Samuel Rosalez, Javier Torres, Makaela
Epperson, Santiago Epperson and Liana Epperson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosalinda Givens and her sister and brothers.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, aides and staff at the Wood County Hospital,
Bowling Green Manor and Odyssey Hospice for their compassionate and comforting treatment, family and
friends that showed her love and support over these past two years of her life.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME
& CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402; Tele: 419/352-2171,
where a Rosary Service will be recited at noon. Modesta’s Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. at St. Aloysius
Catholic Church; 150 S. Enterprise St., Bowling Green, interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery,
Bowling Green.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wood County Senior Citizens Center, 305
Main St., Bowling Green, OH 43402 or the American Cancer Society.
