It’s only a fourth of the way into the Mid-American Conference women’s basketball season, but Saturday’s
Bowling Green-Kent State game has the makings of a major showdown.
Tipoff is 2 p.m. in Kent State’s M.A.C. Center. BG is 15-1 overall and 3-0 in the MAC, having won 15
straight, while Kent State is 13-3, 3-0, winners of six of its last seven.
Kent is coming off a 55-54 road win at Ohio as freshman Tayler Stanton scored a key basket off an
offensive rebound in the final minute.
The Golden Flashes have been playing good defense, allowing 58.6 ppg. Opponents are shooting 37.8 percent
from the field, 28.9 percent on 3-pointers, against Kent State. Kent State’s opponents are also
averaging 22.3 turnovers per game.
Taisja Jones, 6-foot senior, is averaging 14.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Jamilah Humes, a 5-8
fifth-year senior, is averaging 14.3 ppg and has 58 assists.
"The thing you know about their roster is that they are very experienced and can put five seniors on
the floor at one time, or play a lot of minutes with seniors," BG head coach Curt Miller said.
"They have been through the wars; they are not going to be intimidated by anyone and they are going
to want to protect their home court. The M.A.C. center over in Kent is a tough place to get wins."

Kent State’s Bob Lindsay has set the standard for MAC coaches.
Now in his 22nd year at Kent State, Lindsay is 405-228 overall and 247-104 in conference. He is the only
coach, men’s or women’s basketball, to have over 400 victories.
"That speaks about his success, his longevity and his ability to adapt through the years and play a
style that continues to allow him to be successful," Miller said about Lindsay’s 405 career wins.

BGSU: Lauren Prochaska scored 28 points in BG’s 90-72 win over Akron Wednesday. In the process she became
the 10th women’s player to score 2,000 career points in MAC history.
Prochaska is exactly 100 points shy of the BG career scoring leader Jackie Motycka. Motycka scored 2,122
points during her career (1985-89).
For the season, Prochaska is averaging 20.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Tracy Pontius is averaging 13.1 points and 4.4 assists per game.
