Elmwood celebrates ‘A Royal Affair’

JERRY CITY – "Written in the Stars: A Royal Affair" is the theme for this year’s Fall
Homecoming at Elmwood High School. The homecoming court was honored in a football pregame ceremony
Friday evening.
This year’s homecoming queen was Darla Heimann. She is the daughter of Jeff and Marilyn Heimann of
Bloomdale. Heimann is involved in student council, National Honor Society, and Spanish and science
clubs. She is a member of the cross country and track teams. The senior is employed at The Finish Line
in Findlay. She is a member of Stone Bridge Church of God, Findlay, and she plans to attend the
University of Findlay and major in business and minor in health.
The homecoming king was Tyler Baer, son of Marty and Renee Baer, rural Portage. He is a member of the
football, wrestling, and track teams, and is involved in Spanish club. Outside of school, Baer
participates in Young Life and Pheasants Forever. Following graduation, he plans to attend college and
major in either criminal justice or pre-med.
The senior attendant was Kelsey Aufdencamp of rural Bloomdale. The daughter of Tim (1978) and Jackie
Aufdencamp, she is a member of the cheerleading squad and the track team, and is involved in National
Honor Society, Spanish and science clubs. She attends Christ’s Church in Bowling Green. After
graduation, Aufdencamp plans to attend Bowling Green State University and major in marketing.
Tony Paul, of rural Cygnet, son of Kenny and Kay Paul, was the senior escort. He is a member of the cross
country and track teams, and is in National Honor Society and Spanish club. He is a member of Holy
Family Catholic Church in North Baltimore. The senior is employed at McDonald’s in North Baltimore and
his future plans are to attend college and major in computer engineering.
The junior attendant was Kati Bradford and her escort was William Corner.
Bradford, of rural Wayne, is the daughter of Kevin and Cristi Bradford. She is a member of the
volleyball, basketball and track teams, and participates in Spanish and science clubs. She is a member
of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. Bradford is also employed at the Country Farmhouse in
Wayne.
After graduation, she plans to attend college to become a nurse.
Corner is from Wayne and is the son of Bruce and Teresa (Dean, 1987) Corner. He is a member of the
football and track teams, and is in Spanish and science clubs. Corner plans to enlist in the Marines
following graduation.
The sophomore attendant was Josefina Edwards, daughter of Virginia Edwards, of Wayne, and the late
Charles Edwards. A member of the Spanish and Art clubs, she attends the Church of the Good Shepherd,
Wayne.
Taylor Hosmer, the sophomore escort, is the son of Rick (1979) and Dee Hosmer, rural Bloomdale. At
school, he is a member of the football and basketball teams, and participates in FFA and Spanish club.

He also is a member of The Word of Truth Christian Center in Bowling Green. He is employed at the
Woodbury Farms in Bowling Green.
Jenna Irwin, the freshman attendant, was escorted by Zach Foster.
Irwin, of rural Cygnet, is a member of the volleyball team, Spanish club and student council at Elmwood.
She also participates in 4-H and the Blackswamp volleyball club. The freshman is a member of St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church in Bowling Green. She is the daughter of John (1985) and Kayla Irwin.
Foster, son of Hal (1969) and Kathy Foster of Wayne, participates in football, basketball and baseball.

Helping with the ceremony were four first-graders. Each child has at least one parent who graduated from
Elmwood. The helpers were: Abigail Lee, daughter of Ryan (1994) and Cora (Leach, 1996) Lee of Jerry
City; Mason Coulter, son of Lance (1989) and Tina (Tyson, 1990) Coulter of rural Wayne; Madison Daniels,
daughter of Jeff (1995) and Holly Daniels of Cygnet; and Kyler Hiser, son of Jeff (2000) and Lauren
Hiser of Bloomdale.
Elmwood’s homecoming activities will conclude tonight with a dance in the high school auditeria. All
homecoming activities have been sponsored by the student council with the held of Barb Slagle, adviser.
