Community service in Luckey
As part of the annual Luckey fall festival, there will be a community worship service on Sunday at 9:30
a.m. featuring the SonFire contemporary worship team from Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Melissa
Steinecker of Zion United Methodist Church, will deliver the sermon entitled, "Searching for
Power."
The service will be held at Basic Park in Luckey. Holy Communion will be celebrated.
In addition to the two churches mentioned above, other churches participating include Faith United
Methodist and Grace Lutheran.
The public is welcome to attend.
Service focus of multi-faith event
A multi-faith community service project will be held Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. in Room 207 of the
Bowen-Thompson Student Union on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
The purpose of this event is to promote multi-faith dialogue while serving the community.
This event is beng provided by the MultiFaith Dialogue group, an affiliate of the Campus MultiFaith
Alliance.
Pets to be blessed
WATERVILLE – Waterville United Methodist Church, 102 N. Fifth St., will host a Blessing of the Animals
service on Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the church courtyard.
Those attending are asked to bring their family pets including dog, cat, rabbit, gerbil, fish or whatever
for what organizers plan to be a very meaningful service. The church does ask to have the pet on a leash
or otherwise confined.
Nurse program set
The Congregational Nurse Project will hold its next "Basic Parish Nurse Education Course on Tuesdays
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., begining on Oct. 6 through Nov. 6. The course will be held at Sylvania United
Church of Christ.

Haitian missionary featured,
spaghetti to be served
A spaghetti dinner will be served at First Presbyterian Church, 126 So. Church St., Bowling Green at 6
p.m .on Wednesday.
Following the dinner, a missionary from Haiti will be presenting a program about his work there. Mark
Hare has been living in Haiti for the past 11 years and is working on agricultural projects. Haiti, is
the poorest country in the western hemisphere and needs all the help which it can get.
Hare’s visit is part of a World Mission Challenge taking place beginning today through Oct. 19. During
this time, 40 Presbyterian Church (USA) mission co-workers will travel the country visiting more than
120 presbyteries and speaking in nearly 700 churches.
Reservations for the dinner, which involves a donation toward his work, can be made by calling the church

Bless the children
St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 150 S. Enterprise, is having a "Blessing of Children" at the 10
a.m. Mass on Oct. 4. Parishioners who have an infant or a little child through first grade are
especially encouraged to attend this Mass.
Following the Mass parents and their children are invited to a gathering in the Parish Hall.
Church officials hope this will be a good opportunity for parents of young children to become acquainted
with other parents of young children.
Anointing service set
PERRYSBURG – A communal anointing of the sick service will be held on Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at St. Rose
Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St.
Those who are in advanced years and those who are in need of healing are encouraged to attend and receive
the sacrament. Other parishioners and community members are invited to come and support those who will
be anointed.
Those planning on coming to be anointed are asked to call the parish office at (419) 874-4559 to allow
arrangements to welcome and/or assist those attending. Transportation services may also be arranged by
calling the office.
Church plans fund-raising
St. Louis Parish and School Steering Committee of Custar, will be holding a spaghetti dinner on Monday
from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Roadhouse.
Cost is $5 for dinner and free will donation for homemade desserts.
The public is invited.
Mission festival planned
NEW ROCHESTER – St. Paul Lutheran Church, 14545 New Rochester Road, is finalizing plans for its Mission
Festival on Oct. 11, including a speaker, blessing of the Lutheran World Relief blankets followed by a
chicken barbecue meal following the worship that day.
Reservations are required by Oct. 5. Additional details on the event will be published next week.
Community dinner offered
RISINGSUN -St. Paul’s United Methodist Church holds its monthly community dinner Tuesday from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. The menu includes meat loaf, parsley potatoes, vegetable, salad bar, pie and beverage for a
donation.
‘Red Mass’ moves to Sunday
TOLEDO – The third annual Diocese of Toledo "Red Mass" will be celebrated Sunday at 11 a.m. at
Holy Rosary Cathedral, Toledo. The first two years, the event, which recognizes the field of justice and
law, was held on a Thursday.
A reception will follow in the auditorium.
The annual Jack Schlageter Award will be presented posthumously to Mike Jilek, a former Toledo Bar
Association president.
