Swartz serving Latcha church
LATCHA – Zion Lutheran Church, 26535 Pemberville Road, in rural Perrysburg, formerly Latcha, is now being
served by Pastor Al Swartz.
Worship time is 10:15 a.m. each Sunday with Sunday School at 9 a.m.
‘Church at Cherry’s’ returns
PEMBERVILLE – Church at Cherry’s, held at Cherry’s Pub and Grub, 211 E. Front St., Pemberville, returns
on Tuesday with gatherings planned for the fourth Tuesday of each month.
"Prayer: What is it? What about the Power of Prayer?" will be the topic for September’s session
with the discussion beginning at 7 p.m.
Movie night on Saturday
SUGAR RIDGE – The Sugar Ridge Community Church, 11634 Sugar Ridge Road, will hold another of its ongoing
series of free "Movie Nights" on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the church.
"The Last Sin Eater" will be shown. Snacks will be served and the public is invited to attend
this free event.
‘Red Mass’ moves to Sunday
TOLEDO – The third annual Diocese of Toledo "Red Mass" will be celebrated Sept. 27 at 11 a.m.
at Holy Rosary Cathedral, Toledo. The first two years, the event, which recognizes the field of justice
and law, was held on a Thursday.
A reception will follow in the auditorium.
The annual Jack Schlageter Award will be presented posthumously to Mike Jilek, a former Toledo Bar
Association president.
Healing service planned
NORTH BALTIMORE – St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 N. Second St., North Baltimore, will hold a
"Healing Service" on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The service, which includes anointing with oil, is for those who are praying for healing for themselves,
as well as an opportunity to left specific prayer for others in need of healing.
Meal served on Tuesday
GRAND RAPIDS –
Hosanna Lutheran Church, 23019 Kellogg Road, Grand Rapids, will hold its "Fourth Tuesday" meal

this Tuesday from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The menu includes pork roast, mashed potatoes and corn casserole.
The public is invited. The cost is a donation.
Rummage sale planned
The women of Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of Summit and Court Streets will hold what
organizers describe as "an enormous rummage sale" on Sept. 24-26.
The sale will be held in the church basement (an elevator is available).
Items being sold include men’s women’s and children’s clothing and shoes of all sizes. The sale also
features housewares, books, jewelry, craft supplies, linens, furniture and more.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 24; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 25, which is half price day; and 9 a.m.
to noon on the final day, which is $2 bag day.
Daniels to visit Vineyard
PERRYSBURG – Danny Daniels, an internationally known songwriter and worship leader, will appear at
Vineyard Church of Toledo, 210 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg, on Sept. 27.
His songs include We Welcome You, Mighty Savior, Never Cease to Praise and Heart of Love.
Daniels will be part of the 10 a.m. worship service on that day and then will appear at 6 p.m. for a
night of acoustical blues and worship music.
Lectureship event Saturday
Bowling Green Church Church of Christ, 17317 Haskins Road, will hold its 14th annual Lectureship on
Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. This year’s theme is "Footsteps of Jesus."
Speakers will include Tim Dooley who will speak specifically on the theme; Clyde Mayberry, whose topic is
"Abstain From Every Appearance of Evil;" Dennis Swindle, "For me to Live is Christ;"
and James Barnes, "If God be for us who can be Against Us?"
Turning Point church welcomes students
Turning Point United Methodist Church, located at the corner of South Main and Washington Streets, will
hold a "Welcome Back Students" banquet in the church’s fellowship hall on Sept. 27 following
the morning worship.
Each university student in attendance will be provided free food.
Senior CSI event to be at different site
PERRYSBURG – CSI, Christian Seniors Interacting, invite all seniors in the area to attend its next
meeting to be held Tuesday at a special location for this week only at Perrysburg Commons, behind
Heartland Nursing Home.
The event is held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is a $3
charge for miscellaneous expenses.
On Tuesday the 11:30 a.m. Bible study will be led by Rev. Jeanne Kumbalek of First Presbyterian Church.
Lunch is served at noon, provided by the host.
The program which follows will be "Solar Energy" by Alan Henderson and a tour of Perrysburg
Commons,.
