Perrysburg man sentenced for threats against officer

Jose Reyes, having previously been found guilty of retaliation in reference to a February incident in the
Wood County jail, appeared again before Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Pollex recently for
sentencing.
Pollex ordered a pre-sentence investigation in June after finding Reyes guilty following a one-day trial.

Reyes waived the preparation of the investigation and agreed to sentencing.
At his sentencing, Pollex handed down a three-year prison stay for Reyes in this matter.
At the trial it was shown that Reyes, 20, of Perrysburg, had said he was going to use a strip of his jail
blanket to tie doors together; however other testimony indicated Reyes said he was going to somehow harm
a sergeant. Reyes admitted to being angry at the jail officer but denied threatening him.
Pollex ordered the prison sentence to be served concurrently with sentences handed down on two other
court cases against Reyes.
Reyes also changed his plea of not guilty to guilty to an amended charge of failure to comply with order
or signal of a police officer. Pollex also sentenced him to 180 days in the Wood County Jail on this
charge, which is a first-degree misdemeanor.
The third count on Reyes involved a probation violation and the revocation of his community control from
a 2007 case. Pollex ordered a 16-month prison sentence in this case with an original charge of assault
of a police officer. The latter two sentences are to be served concurrently with the retaliation
sentence for an aggregate total of three years.
