Owens peace officer graduation Tuesday

Several Wood County residents or agencies have students among the 40 who will graduate Tuesday from the
Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy at Owens Community College.
The ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m. in the College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts Mainstage
Theatre on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. The graduation is open to the public.
Owens graduates become eligible for certification as an Ohio peace officer. In addition, coursework
earned by police academy graduates will apply toward an associate degree at Owens in law enforcement.

Local law enforcement agencies where Owens graduates have been employed include the Findlay Police
Department, Fostoria Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Henry County Sheriff’s
Department, Lucas County Sheriff’s Department, Maumee Police Department, Northwood Police Department,
Perrysburg City Police Department, Perrysburg Township Police Department, Sylvania City Police
Department, Sylvania Township Police Department, Toledo Police Department and the Wood County Sheriff’s
Department.
The following students have completed the requirements.
¥ Travis P. Rothenbuhler, of Findlay; Zachary U. Sperling, of Weston; Loren G. Welch, of Pemberville; and
Michael C. Wise, of Deerfield, Mich., all sponsored by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
¥ Gabe A. Greenwalt, of Toledo, andJared C. Largent, of Toledo, both sponsored by the Pemberville Police
Department.
¥ Aaron P. Hoyos, Bruce M. Lindquist and Justin W. Smith, all of Bowling Green.
Wood County residents who took classes at the Findlay campus were Nicholas Birch and Drew A.
Westenberger, both of Fostoria; Benjamin C. Downard, of Weston; and Christopher L. Garner, of Bowling
Green.
