CYGNET – Cygnet Board of Public Affairs is considering enacting a "Water Distribution Maintenance
Fee"- a $10 monthly charge to each customer.
A lack of revenue has made it impossible for the village to repair water breaks, meter replacements,
meter boxes and old lids that no longer lock or may be outdated. Nor does the town have the money to
replace outdated water meters that over time have failed to read correctly. The village also needs a
contingency plan for emergencies.
In an effort to explain to residents the need for the fee, the BPA will discuss the fee at its next three
meetings.
The board is moving its next regularly-scheduled meeting to Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. from Sept. 8. There will
be a first reading of the fee resolution that night. The board plans to enact the fee at the Oct. 5
meeting.
The resolution will also be the topic of discussion at the following two BPA meetings on Sept. 21 and
Oct, 5. Both meetings will also start at 7 p.m.
