Perrysburg sophomore April Weaver is heading to the Division I girls state tennis tournament.
Weaver won her district semifinal match Saturday at the VonThron-Hablitzel Tennis Center in Port Clinton
over Kerigan McNamara of Notre Dame. Weaver then lost in the finals to Notre Dame’s Megan McNamara.
Weaver won her first match, 6-0, 6-0; before losing in the finals, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Perrysburg’s doubles team of Cammy Messenger and Megan Roberts failed to advance to state, losing their
semifinal match to Southview’s Genna Haider and Anjali Naik, 6-3, 6-2.
The top two singles players and top two doubles teams qualify for the state tournament Oct. 23-24 at Ohio
State University. Thus, no third-place matches were played Saturday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Northwood 8, Cardinal Stritch 0
At Oregon, the Rangers cruised to the win.
Kayla Kurth and Jessica Grindle each scored twice to lead Northwood. Megan Hess and Maddie Vickers
combined in goal for the shutout.
BOYS SOCCER
Rossford 3, Cardinal Stritch 0
At Rossford, Joe Sujkowski, John Lydy, and Zack Leahy scored for the Bulldogs. Sujkowski and Zach
Campbell had assists.
Andrew McFarland made nine saves for the Bulldogs, now 9-3-4 overall.

Eastwood beat Elmwood, 42-6. The Eagles are 6-1.
