Portage Valley cancels trick-or-treat due to H1N1 fears

PEMBERVILLE — Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Village has announced cancellation of Trick-or-Treat,
which had been scheduled for Thursday.
“Our first priority is always our residents, aged 55 and better, who may be susceptible to certain
illnesses and, based on medical advisors’ opinions and like many area healthcare facilities, we are not
taking any chances with the H1N1 virus now declared a national emergency,” reports Tom Keith, executive
director.
However, for those over age 55 and their adult children, OPV will still host a free breakfast on Tuesday
from 9-11 a.m. The theme, “Why Otterbein?” answers this question with a continental breakfast and
testimonials of why others have chosen Otterbein as a 55-plus residence.
Call (419) 833-8917 for breakfast reservations.
