Prep hockey: BGHS loses, Perrysburg wins

Thomas Clarke’s second goal of the game with five minutes remaining Friday gave Villanova (Ontario) a 3-2
win over Bowling Green in the first round of the BGSU Thanksgiving Invitational high school hockey
tournament at the Ice Arena.
Clarke’s first goal tied the game 2-2 with 3:55 left in the second period.
Villanova opened the scoring on Josh Burns’ power-play goal at 2:59 of the first period, but BG rallied
to take a 2-1 lead. CLICK

The
Bobcats tied the game on Joey Harris’ goal with just 21 seconds left in the opening period and took the
lead on John Rich’s power-play goal only 41 seconds into the second period.
Villanova held a 44-26 edge in shots. BG’s Nick Morris made 41 saves.
The Bobcats finish the round-robin tournament with games against Nordonia tonight at 8 and Findlay Sunday
at 1 p.m.
Findlay was a 10-0 winner over Nordonia in Friday’s first game.
HOLY NAME TOURNAMENT
Perrysburg 5, Chagrin Falls 4
In Brooklyn, Matt White’s power-play goal with just 36 seconds left in the game gave Perrysburg its win.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 3-0 after the first period.
Dustin Kain scored twice in the second period for Perrysburg, the first coming at 1:59 on the power play
and the second coming at 9:53.
Perrysburg then tied the game on White’s power-play goal 23 seconds into the third period and took its
first lead at 4-3 on a short-handed goal by Ben Lopez at 7:44.
The Tigers tied the game with a power-play goal three minutes later, setting the stage for White.
White and Kain each had two goals and one assist, while Lopez added a goal and three assists.
Perrysburg held a 45-25 edge in shots. Cam Studer made 20 saves for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets faced Holy Name this morning at 8 and will play Cleveland Benedictine tonight at 7.
