WBGU series showcases BGSU music ensembles

WBGU-PBS will premiere "Ovation @ BGSU," a 12-part series showcasing the diversity of student
musical ensembles at Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts, on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

The new program continues the station’s tradition of music programming, said Patrick Fitzgerald, General
Manager and Director of Television Services. "We hope this series will encourage viewers to come to
the BGSU campus to enjoy the many, many performances by students and faculty at the College of Musical
Arts.
"We would like to consider this a first step in building on this series in years to come."
The College of Musical Arts is involved in more than 700 performances each year, according to David D.
Harnish, associate dean in College of Musical Arts, who helped produce the series with WBGU-PBS producer
and director Marcus Harrison.
"With upwards of 40 different student ensembles at BGSU, it was difficult to determine which groups
to showcase," Harnish explained. "The orchestra and concert band were too big for the WBGU-PBS
studio, so we chose to feature several of our smaller instrumental and vocal ensembles, many of which
are award-winning student-founded ensembles."
After the premiere episode, new episodes will continue on most Thursdays through January. All shows are
at 8:30 p.m.
