Prep Roundup: BG volleyball finishes NLL season 14-0

Bowling Green finished out an undefeated Northern Lakes League volleyball season with a 25-14, 15-25,
25-22, 25-12 win at Anthony Wayne Thursday. BG finished 14-0 in winning its sixth straight league title.
The Bobcats, ranked 17th in the state poll, take a 17-4 mark in to Division I sectional play next week.

"It was pretty intense, It was their (AW’s) senior night and they wanted to beat us as evidenced by
the score in the second game," said BG head coach Deb Coan-Mathias. "I was proud of the girls
as they rallied back and got back on track.
"We had to work hard for it."
Coan-Mathias added that the Bobcats were also playing for pride in accomplishing the feat of winning six
straight league title.
BG’s leaders were: Ashley Dunn, 14 kills; Chelsea Watson, 11 kills; Jordan Garza, 23 digs, two aces; and
Jordan Dunn, 42 assists, 18 digs.
In sectional play, Bowling Green plays the AW-Clay winner next Saturday in the second match at Otsego
High School. The first match starts at 3 p.m.
Of the six teams in the sectional, four are from the NLL.
"We’re not done yet with the NLL teams, we could see them in the sectional," Coan-Mathias said.

Perrysburg beats Rossford
In Rossford, Perrysburg was a 25-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-13 winner over the Bulldogs in a Northern Lakes
League match.
Rossford’s leaders were: Abbie Riehm, two aces, seven kills, 13 digs; Annie Riehm, six kills, seven
assists, nine digs; and Jordan Gauthier, 18 digs, six kills.
Lakota wins
In Kansas, Lakota improved to 15-4 overall and 8-3 in the Midland Athletic League with a 21-25, 25-21,
25-22, 21-25, 20-18 win over Mohawk.
Lakota’s leaders were: Olivia Frantz, 28 assists; Emily Hagen, 22 assists; Sarah Timmons, five aces, 14
digs; Amy Gosche, four aces, 16 kills, 15 digs; Jessica Hoffman, 22 kills, 11 digs; Kylie Podach, 10
kills, four blocks; and Mackenzie Brewer, seven kills.
NB posts victory
In Bettsville, North Baltimore was a 25-19, 19-25, 25-11, 25-21 win over the Bobcats in an MAL match.
NB’s leaders were: Courtney Lincoln, four aces, five kills, six digs; Megan Grilliot, six aces, three
kills, seven digs; Leona Euler, eight aces, three kills, one block, two digs; Ciara Hernandez, four
aces, one kill, five digs; Ashley Miller, two kills, two digs; Chelsey Woodruff, 11 digs; Samantha
Trimble, 11 assists, nine digs; and Miranda Woodruff, five digs.
GIRLS SOCCER
Lake 1, Eastwood 1, tie
In Luckey, Lake’s girls soccer team clinched the Suburban Lakes League title with the tie.
The Flyers are 14-1-1 overall and finished 7-0-1 in the SLL.
Drew Plummer scored Lake’s goal on an assist from Hannah Cox. Ashley Timmons made four saves.

Eastwood 1, Lake 1, tie
In Millbury, Ryan Sieving scored Eastwood’s goal and Aaron Brinker had 10 saves.

North Baltimore beat Bettsville in two games.

Rossford defeated Bowling Green, 46-39. For BG, Ricky Riggs threw five touchdown passes to Andy Fisher
and also rushed for one score. Riggs added a two-point conversion and Fisher kicked a PAT. Jacob Keller
recovered a fumble. BG is 1-5.
Eastwood beat Elmwood, 36-14. The Eagles finished the season 4-1-1. Leaders for Eastwood were: Brent
Schlumbohm, two touchdowns runs; Jacob Rahe, touchdown run, conversion pass from Jake Schmeltz; Nick
Vespi, two touchdown runs, conversion run, fumble recovery; Jake Schmeltz, conversion run, interception;
Michael Filpse, interception; and Andy Blair, fumble recovery.
SEVENTH GRADE
FOOTBALL
Bowling Green and Arbor Hills tied, 8-8. BG is 4-1-1.
Eastwood defeated Elmwood, 8-0. Brennan Seifert scored a touchdown on a pass from Grant Geiser, and Abram
Reyes added a two-point conversion pass from Geiser. The Eagles are 4-1.
