The Recipe cooks at Cla-Zel
The Recipe, a roots rock jam band hailing from Morgantown, W. Va. will perform t the Cla-Zel in downtown
Bowling Green Friday at 8 p.m.
The Recipe was founded in 1995, announcing its arrival with the CD "Love Marble Hoe Down." The
band built its reputation with constant touring and high-energy shows captured in its live CD "All
You Can Eat" in 2003.
The band with shifting personnel was maintained by Joe Pritchard, a singer and songwriter who plays
mandolin, guitar and tenor banjo. After years of touring on the festival and club scene, the band went
into hiatus as Pritchard focused on his own Joe Pritchard Band.
Hearing singer Shannon Jones as an open mic, and subsequently singing duets with her, inspired him to
revive The Recipe in late 2008.
Joining Jones and Pritchard in the revived Recipe are former members fiddler Mike Mitchell, new bassist
Phil Risko and percussionist Tom Kirk and Joe Pritchard Band members drummer Jason Hastings and
guitarist Eric Sargent . The band performed this summer Gratefulfest and the Allgood Festival.
The band is working on a new CD, set for release in 2010.
Tickets are $12 and $15. Visit clazel.net.
BGSU gallery lobby design earns Collaborative state honor
The Collaborative Inc, Toledo, has won an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects Ohio
Chapter for its design of the lobby and reception area of Bowling Green State University’s Dorothy Uber
Bryan Art Gallery.
Designed by architects and interior designers at the renovated Gallery was one of 11 entrants into the
interiors category.
By exposing the existing pre-cast concrete and steel columns, the design team maximized the volume of the
space. The jury, made up of out-of-state architects, noted the design’s delicate balance between rugged
and sleek materials. Such features include the steel wall, with its natural patina, and the sliding
glass wall. Aesthetic and functional, the steel wall acts as a screen for the gallery’s access ramp, as
well as a focal point for namesake donors.
Representatives of The Collaborative Inc and Bowling Green State University will accept the Honor Award
during the AIA Ohio Valley Regional Conference on Friday.
