Football Roundup: Northwood cruises past Ottawa Hills

Northwood pounded out 478 yards on the ground in a 64-24 win over Ottawa Hills to remain undefeated in
the Toledo Area Athletic Conference.
In the Suburban Lakes League it was: Eastwood 48, Elmwood 0; Genoa 49, Lake 0; and Gibsonburg 50, Otsego
21. Woodmore beat Cleveland Rhodes, 34-14 in a non-league game.
In the Northern Lakes League it was: Maumee 34, Bowling Green 6; Perrysburg 15, Springfield 14; Southview
62, Rossford 13; and Anthony Wayne 56, Northview 21.
In the Midland Athletic League, Lakota topped North Baltimore, 48-34.
Northwood 64, Ottawa Hills 24
At Northwood, Jake Pressley and Zach Bermejo led Northwood’s ground attack in the win.
Pressley rushed eight times for 128 yards. He scored two rushing touchdowns, returned a kickoff for a
score, ran for two 2-point conversions and kicked two PATs.
Bermejo had 117 yards on four carries and scored two touchdowns.
The Rangers are 5-3 overall and tied for first in the TAAC with Toledo Christian at 4-0. The two teams
play next Friday at Perrysburg High School.
Genoa 49, Lake 0
At Millbury, Genoa, ranked No. 4 state, started quickly and never looked back in the shutout of Lake.
Genoa is 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the SLL while Lake is 5-3, 3-2.
Greg Hillabrand rushed 22 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns to lead Genoa.
Lake managed 33 yards in total offense in the game, 12 through the air and 21 rushing yards on 30
carries.
Gibsonburg 50, Otsego 21
At Gibsonburg, the Golden Bears scored the first seven touchdowns of the game on the way to the SLL win.
Gibsonburg is 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the SLL while Otsego is 0-8, 0-4.
Avery Potridge rushed 22 times for 208 yards and two touchdowns for Gibsonburg.
Cody Henck scored on touchdown runs of 78 and 54 yards for Otsego and Sam Forshey caught a 64-yard
scoring pass from Ryan Smoyer.
Southview 62, Rossford 13
At Sylvania, Southview scored the first six touchdowns of the game in the runaway NLL win. The Cougars,
5-3 overall, are tied for first with Maumee in the NLL at 4-1.
Rashad Caban scored on runs of 79- and 3-yards for Rossford, 0-8, 0-5.
Anthony Wayne 56, Northview 21
At Whitehouse, Anthony Wayne rolled up 540 yards on the ground in the NLL win. AW is 5-3 overall and 3-2
in the NLL while Northview falls to 3-5, 2-3.
Alex Bridges led AW with nine carries for 135 yards and four scores.
Brian Downing was 23-of-53 passing for Northview for 269 yards and three touchdowns and three
interceptions.
Lakota 48, North Baltimore 34
At Kansas, Lakota rallied for a 34-21 halftime deficit to down North Baltimore for its first-ever MAL
victory. Lakota is 4-4 overall and 1-4 in the MAL while NB is 2-6, 0-5 in the league having lost 22
straight league games.
In the second half, Dillon Winke scored on a 68-yard pass from John Timmons, Roger Guerra scored on a
3-yard run, Jeremy Robbins scored on a 51-yard run and Ryan Zesing scored on a 2-yard run for the
Raiders.
Timmons also threw 32-yards to Jake Wiseman for a TD, Robbins had a 33-yard scoring run and Guerra had a
77-yard kickoff return.
For NB, Michael South had scoring runs of one and two yards while Jonathan Long scored on rushes of 25-,
18- and 71-yards.
