Sweet Adelines open Rhythm on River series
GRAND RAPIDS – Two award-winning Sweet Adeline International quartets will open the Rhythm on the River
Arts Series Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the
Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street.
The members of the calm quartet are Kay Seymour, tenor; Pam Crugnale, bass; Margie Manuel, baritone; andĀ 
Ruth Bates, lead. They have been singing together for over a year and hail from the hometowns of Elyria,
North Canton, Toledo, and Ambridge, Pennsylvania. The Kickstart quartet members are Jackie Olsen, tenor;
Judy Bach, bass; Karen Long, lead; and Theresa Lohman, baritone. They have been singing together for
over 3 years and hail from the greater Toledo area and Indiana. Both groups compete in the Sweet
Adelines Region competitions in Cleveland
The concert series is sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society.
Connor Luepp to play Shrek in Perrysburg production
PERRYSBURG – Connor Luepp is returning to the Perrysburg High School stage as Shrek in Perrysburg Musical
Theatre’s production of "Shrek, The Musical," June 25-28.
While at Perrysburg High Schoool Luepp, was an active participant in the drama club with rolesĀ  in
"Little Shop of Horrors," "Footloose," "See How They Run," and "West
Side Story."
He has been working toward his bachelor of fine arts degree in electronic media at the
College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati with a minor in political science.
Clark Ausloos directs with Michael Kadin Craig as musical director.

Muir’s ‘Beasts’ finalist for Orion Book Award
Sharona Muir’s 2014 novel, "Invisible Beasts: Tales of the Animals That Go Unseen Among Us" has
been named a finalist for the 2015 Orion Book Award for fiction.
Conferred by Orion Magazine since 2007, the annual award is "presented to books that deepen the
reader’s connection to the natural world through fresh ideas and excellence in writing," according
to the publisher.
Muir is a faculty member in the Bowling Green State University Creative Writing Program.
The Perrysburg resident has received wide acclaim in both the popular press and literary journals for
"Invisible Beasts," published last July by Bellevue Literary Press of New York University.
O, the Oprah magazine, recommended it in its August issue; it was named as "Top Indie Fiction"
by Library Journal and chosen by Publisher’s Weekly as a First Fiction selection and one of its July 14
Books of the Week, and was lauded in Kirkus Review.
Three-day festival to feature country music
Country Concert 2015 revs up on July 9-11 in Fort Loramie.
For 35 years this annual three-day music festival features country music.
The 2015 line-up of favorites includes Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, The Band Perry,
Justin Moore, Chris Young and more.
