Community band offers windy show

The Bowling Green Area Community Band will aim to sweep listeners away with "March Winds," a
program featuring British and Celtic favorites, Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Bowling Green Performing Arts
Center.
Conductor Thomas Headley has selected  "Danny Boy," "Bonnie Annie Laurie March" and
the band masterwork First Suite in E flat by Gustav Holst.  
The new BGACB assistant conductor, Catherine Lewis, will lead the ensemble in a performance of
"Innisfree,"  a new work by Carl Strommen.  Lewis recently is retired as the director of bands
for Fremont City Schools and has been a bassoonist in the BGACB for several years.  
Soloists from within the Concert Band include:  Jim George, John Kloor, Jeremy Sison, Gary Keller, Travis
Pennell, Ardy Gonyer, Howard Williams, Heidi Reger, Brian Bushong, Jane Milbrodt, Erin Crawford and
Karen Smith.
William E. Lake, director of the BiG Band BG has programmed several classics of the big band era:
"Jordu," "This Can’t Be Love" and "The Peanut Vendor."  
Among the jazz soloists are Keith Bernhard, Dan VanVorhis, Bill Lake, Dan Schellhas, Brian Bushong, Steve
Arnold, Ryan Holley, Norm Carpenter, Shelby Sweinhagen,  Karen Smith and John Kloor.
The band’s fans should note that free program starts later than the previously announced time.
