Improvisation’ to be screened
The documentary film "On the Edge: Improvisation in Music" will be screened Thursday at 7 p.m.
at Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St.
The 1992 film was directed by Jeremy Marre and written and narrated by new music pioneer  guitarist Derek
Bailey.
The event is part of the Other Musics film series.
Cultures clash in 2014 film
PERRYSBURG – A study in the clash of cultures "The Hundred-Foot Journey" will be shown at Way
Library March 5 at 2 p.m. as part of the Show Me the Movie contemporary film series.
In the 2014 film, worlds collide when the Kadam family moves from Mumbai to a small village in southern
France and opens an Indian restaurant directly across the street from haughty Madame Mallory’s
Michelin-starred French restaurant. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom, the film stars Helen Mirren and Manish
Dayal.
‘Pretty Fire’ to be staged at Toledo church
TOLEDO – – Actors Collaborative Toledo a will stage "Pretty Fire" by Charlayne Woodard Saturday
at 8 p.m. as part of The Artist Series at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams St.  Directed by Barbara
Barkan and featuring Dafina-Lazarus Stewart, the play weaves stories of African-American life.
"Pretty Fire" won the NAACP Theatre Awards for best play and best playwright.
Tickets are $10. All proceeds will benefit The Ella Stewart Academy for Girls.
The play contains intense adult themes, strong language and descriptions of sexual and racial violence.

Art travel scholarship
TOLEDO – The Toledo Museum of Art is now accepting applications for the Palmer Scholarship, which funds
art-related travel for northwest Ohio artists, photographers, students and others pursuing an artistic
endeavor..
The application deadline for the $8,000 award is March 15. An application form can be downloaded at:
