Calderon 35th at state bowling
COLUMBUS — Gabby Calderon, a junior at Bowling Green High School, bowled games of 180 and 189 in her 527
series at the Division I State tournament in Columbus on Friday.
She finished 35th among the 100 bowlers in the tournament.
Falcon baseball loses
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Maine’s baseball team scored twice in the eighth inning to snap a 4-4 tie and post a
6-4 nonconference win  Friday over Bowling Green.
Brandon Howard was 3 for 5 with a double, a run and an RBI for BG, 5-8 overall.
BG women’s golf competes
RIO VERDE, Ariz. — Bowling Green State University’s women’s golf team shot a 311 Friday in the first
round of the Rio Verde Invitational, good for 15th in the 18-team field.
Junior Hannah Lewis led the Falcons was tied for 13th individually with a 2-over-par 74.
The second round is today with the final round Sunday.
Jans named finalist for award
Bowling Green State University men’s basketball coach Chris Jans was named one of 10 finalists for the
Joe B. Hall Award, which honors the top first-year coach in college basketball.
Jans led the Falcons to a 20-11 record before falling in the second round of the Mid-American Conference
tournament. It was Bowling Green’s first 20-win season since 2001-02.
Jans was the first coach in Bowling Green history to win 20 wins in his first season.
The Falcons will play at Saint Francis on Tuesday in the CollegeInsiders.com Postseason Tournament.
