Student & adult bands on stage for BG jazz fest

The BG Jazz Band Festival will be presented free Friday at 7 p.m. in the Bowling Green Performing Arts
Center. 530 West Poe Road.  
The Bobcat Jazz of Bowling Green Middle School will kick things off with "Jammin with Charlie,"
followed by Tito Puente’s jazz latin favorite "Oye Como Va," and the Black Sabbath hit
"Iron Man."  
The Jazz Cats of Bowling Green High School will feature Grammy Award winning composer Gordon Goodwin’s
"That’s How We Roll"  and "Hit the Bricks" with soloists i Shawn Layden, Frances
Zengel, Emily Crook, Luke Corrigan, and guest soloists Dave Nelson (drums) and Taylor Nelson (guitar).
They also will perform the Beatles favorite, "Yesterday," and the Weather Report favorite,
"Birdland."
 The BiG Band BG  will perform "Jordu" by Duke Jordan, "This Can’t Be Love" by
Rodgers and Hart, and "The Peanut Vendor" by Moises Simons.  Soloists will include:  Keith
Bernhard, Dan VanVorhis, Bill Lake, Dan Schellhas, Brian Bushong, Matt Guion, John Kloor, Steve Arnold,
Ryan Holley, Norm Carpenter, and Shelby Sweinhagen.
