Eastwood’s Emch places fifth at state meet

OBETZ, Ohio — Eastwood senior Leah Emch finished in 18:24.57 to place fifth at the Division II state girls cross country meet Saturday.

At Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park, Emch trailed individual champion Sophia Szolosi, an Athens junior, who was well ahead of the pack in 17:39.61, Cincinnati McAuley senior Abby Sewell (18:08.28), Hathaway Brown junior Anna Prusak (18:14.83) and John Glenn sophomore Ashlynn Kuklica (18:24.17).

In the Division III girls meet, Elmwood runner Alayna Beasley placed 36th out of 183 runners with a time of 19:10.01.

At the Division II state boys meet, Otsego senior Wesley Kellermeier finished in 16:15.12 to place 62nd out of 178 runners.

Lake senior Micah Balsmayer finished in 16:42.51 to place in 111th place and Otsego senior Nathan Strahm finished in 16:49.59 for 120th place.
