James A. “Jim” Carey, age 72, formerly of Bowling Green and currently of Oak Harbor, died at 5:25 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor.
He was born on August 15, 1952, in Findlay, Ohio to the late Raymond and Mary (Williams) Carey. On March 10, 1973, he married Patricia “Pattie” Taylor and enjoyed 51 years of marriage and she survives.
Also surviving are sons: Tim (Sarah) Carey of Van Buren, Ryan Carey of Oak Harbor and Randall Carey of Chicago, Illinois; daughters: Michelle Carey of Oak Harbor and Valerie (Tony) Duncan of Whitehouse; brother, Patrick “Pat” (Christine) Carey of Upper Sandusky; grandchildren: Bradley Perry, Emma Perry, Axl Duncan, Jagger Duncan, Adam, Nicholas, Travis, Graham, Alexander and Noah Carey.
Jim was a 1970 graduate of Arlington High School and served his country in the United States Navy for 4 years and served in Vietnam. He is a life member of the Bowling Green VFW Post #1148, loved football, a huge outdoorsman, being near the ocean and the beach and cheering for the Buckeyes. He always had a great sense of humor and known as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio and his memorial service will be at the conclusion of the visitation at 4 pm.
Full military rites will be conducted at the funeral home at the conclusion of the services by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Pastor Steven Ramsey will officiate.
Private interment will be held at a later date at Arlington Cemetery.
