Donald Ray Tyson, age 76 of Fostoria, Ohio passed away on Saturday (October 26, 2024) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 26, 1948, in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Melvin F. & E. Drue (Carter) Tyson. He married Barbara J. Feather on November 22, 1969, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Surviving Don is his loving wife of 54 years Barb; sons, Bart (Holly) Tyson of Gibsonburg, Ohio, Ryan (Georgette) Tyson of Cygnet, Ohio, Randy Tyson of Findlay, Ohio; daughter, Brandy (J) Glasscock of Texas; sisters, Barb Berghoff of Indiana, Cindy (Rick) Ely of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Sharon Tyson of Findlay, Ohio; grandchildren, Sierra, Madaline, Paige, Allison, Mathew, Jared, Brady, Austin, Savannah; great-grandchildren, Rowyn & Dahlia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mel & Drue; brother, Gary Tyson; brother-in-law, Steve Berghoff.
Don was a 1966 graduate of Elmwood High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star with Valor Medal & the Army Commendation Medal.
After serving in the Army, he went to work at Autolite Spark Plug Factory in Fostoria, Ohio retiring after 30+ years of service. He was a member of the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner, Ohio and a member of the AMVETS. He will always be remembered as an avid outdoorsman.
Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday November 2, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at Barndt Funeral Home where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Merritt officiating.
Following the Celebration of Life Service Military Honors will be performed by Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 and the AMVETS. Burial will be at the Mennonite Cemetery near Wayne, Ohio.
Immediately following a luncheon will be held at Albert Bowe American Legion in Bradner, Ohio.
