Grace Burkin, of Perrysburg, has ben recognized as an inductee into Beta Beta Beta Honor Society, the national biology honor society.

Jessie Mphande of Bowling Green, was recently initiated into Bowling Green State University’s Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Garrett Bateson of Rudolph has been awarded a scholarship from the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association. Bateson is a graduate of Bowling Green High School and is attending Ohio University majoring in business. The OHHA Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors and students enrolled in a degree or certificate program. In addition, the applicant or a family member must be an OHHA member.

Ohio Wesleyan University students shared the results of their 2024 summer science research projects during the university’s 32nd annual Patricia Belt Conrades Summer Science Research Symposium.More than 50 OWU students presented information and answered questions about their 10-week mentored research projects during the two-hour symposium. Local residents presenting, their projects, and their mentors included:

Melayna Rios of Rossford participated in a group presentation of “Are You Game? Examining the Effects of Video Games on Cognition” and “Behind the Mask: How Personality Shapes Role Choices in League of Legends.”

Ian Sander of Pemberville presented “From Design to Nicotine Delivery: A Comprehensive Characterization of Popularly Used E-Cigarettes.”

Bob Jones University, located in Greenville, South Carolina, recently named Alyssa Smith of Bowling Green to the Lyric Choir, BJU’s all-women music ensemble. Smith is a sophomore majoring in communication disorders.
