BG businesses collect items for NC hurricane victims

The Southeastern Container Company in Bowling Green is collecting donations of items to send to its sister plant in Asheville, North Carolina.

Donations may be dropped off at the Southeastern Container Company at 307 Industrial Parkway anytime between the hours of 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is also a GoFundMe link at https//gofund.me/b06fb38f.

The Fringe Thrift Store, located at the Woodland Mall, 1234 N. Main St., has partnered with Southwest Container and has placed a donation station at the front mall entrance of its store, next door to the previous Elder-Beerman store.

Items being requested include:

Canned goods (pop-tops encouraged)

Dry foods, crackers, cereal, nuts etc.

Peanut butter and jelly

Manual can openers

Baby food, formula wipes and diapers

Pet food, leashes etc.

Shelf stable milk

First Aid kits

Soap, toothpaste, hygiene products, feminine products

Hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes

Flashlights, batteries, lanterns, solar powered chargers

Candles, waterproof matches blankets, tents, sleeping bags, mosquito netting, spray

Tarps, plastic sheeting for damaged homes,

Clothing, socks, sturdy shoes, waterproof boots

Rain gear, ponchos, jackets

Multi tools/pocket knives

Rope, bungee cords, buckets, trash bags, duct tape

Small stuffed toys

Portable toilets/toilet seats with waste bags, camping toilets, solar powered camping showers
