Rossford schools locked down after male with a gun was observed

ROSSFORD – An 18-year-old Rossford man was arrested today for carrying a concealed weapon after he allegedly pointed a gun at another person in the city.

At 11:37 a.m., the Rossford Police Department received a report of a juvenile pointing a gun at another person on Walnut Street near Dixie Highway.

The Rossford Schools campus, located two blocks west, was immediately placed on lockdown due to its close proximity to the incident.

Officers who arrived on the scene observed a male running into a residence on Beech Street near Walnut Street. The male exited the home a short time later carrying an empty backpack, according to a police department press release.

The home was searched and officers found a loaded 20-gauge sawed-off shotgun as well as a loaded handgun. Neither belonged to the home’s occupants, according to the release.

Ezekial James was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, tampering with evidence and possession of a dangerous ordinance, all felonies; and aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor. He was taken to the Wood County Justice Center.

A 16-year-old male was arrested for misdemeanor aggravated menacing and taken to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center.
