Motorcyclist arrested for OVI

Bowling Green police on Saturday observed a motorcycle that was lying on its side on the side of the road near the intersection of East Clough Street and State Street.

According to the Bowling Green Police Division report, the observed a man running from the scene.

The male, Kenseth Ziegler, 21, Bowling Green, was caught in a nearby parking lot. Officers detected a strong alcoholic odor coming from Ziegler, who showed signs of slurred speech. Ziegler told officers that he walked away from the motorcycle to find help moving it away from the intersection, according to the report.

Officers found a loaded Ruger P95 9mm handgun with no round chambered that was concealed near Ziegler’s jacket. The motorcycle belonged to Ziegler but had an expired registration, according to the report.

Ziegler acted surprised that the handgun was in his pocket. He said he borrowed the jacket, according to the report.

Ziegler was arrested for OVI, PAC (BAC 0.248), failure to control, no motor endorsement, expired registration, obstructing official business, improper handling firearms in a motor vehicle, and tampering with evidence. He was taken to jail.

Ziegler has a prior OVI offense, according to the report.
