BG school board meets Tuesday

The Bowling Green Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Performing Arts Center.

BGSU baseball is Exchange Club guest

Exchange Club members will be taking baseball when Kyle Hallock, the Bowling Green State University head baseball coach, will be the speaker Tuesday.

Hallock is coming off a record setting season that saw the Falcons win 24 MAC games, including a regular season championship. The team had a highly productive offense, averaging 9.2 runs per game, which ranked ninth in the nation. He was named MAC Coach of the Year.

He will talk about the progress of the baseball program in the last four years as well as his philosophy in developing players. He will also discuss the prospects for the upcoming season and other information about the program.

Very familiar with the MAC, Hallock was an All-American pitcher at Kent State as well as MAC pitcher of the year.

The Exchange Club meets at noon at the Bowling Green Country Club, 923 Fairview Ave. Guests are welcome to join club members for lunch. Cost for lunch is $13 per person.

Perrysburg Schools plan levy info sessions

PERRYSBURG — Members of the Perrysburg Schools community are invited to attend an informational presentation about the Nov. 5 operational levy.

Presetations are planned for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the board of education office, 140 E. Indiana Ave.; and Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Fort Meigs Elementary School, 26431 Fort Meigs Road.

Presenters will be available afterwards for individual questions.

Wayne holds monthly food distribution

WAYNE — The monthly food distribution for the Wayne area will be held Thursday from 9-10 a.m at the Wayne Fire station, 200 N. Center St. The food distribution is for those in the 43466 zip code.

Northwood fire department gets grant

The Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighter Grant and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) programs have awarded nine fire departments across Northwest Ohio new funding to ensure that first responders have the resources and manpower they need to protect local communities.

The City of Northwood Fire Department will receive $939,819. The SAFER funds will be used for the hiring of three additional full-time firefighters, including wages and benefits.
