BG man found unconscious cited for disorderly conduct

Bowling Green police were dispatched Saturday to the 100 block of East Court Street for an unconscious male.

When officers arrived next to City Lot 1 around 1:57 a.m., they observed Patrick Campos, 24, Bowling Green, lying on the sidewalk, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Officers observed a large gash on top of Campos’ head with a large amount of blood on his face. Campos was unconscious and unresponsive to the officers’ commands but was still breathing, according to the report.

Two witnesses told officers that Campos was in an altercation a few minutes prior. The witnesses stated that three males were fighting and pushing one another. One of the males struck Campos in the head before leaving the scene, according to the report.

Officers viewed video footage that the witnesses recorded. In the video, Campos was facing towards the street when the male struck Campos in the back of the head with a closed fist. Campos then fell, head-first into the street and did not move after falling, according to the report.

The male that struck Campos was described as a white male wearing blue jeans, a dark colored jacket or long sleeve shirt with a white/brown two-toned ball cap. The male was later found at the intersection of North Prospect Street and Leroy Avenue, according to the report.

Campos was transported to the hospital by the Bowling Green Fire Division.

Officers then spoke with the males who were in the altercation with Campos. They stated that they assisted bar staff in removing Campos from the premises. The males then broke up an altercation between Campos and another male, according to the report.

The males told officers that they struck Campos in an act of self-defense. Officers were able to view the video footage of the altercation from the City Lot 1 cameras, according to the report.

Officers then spoke to Campos at the hospital.

Campos was cited for two counts of disorderly conduct/fighting, according to the report.
