Toledo man found unconscious in his car arrested for drug trafficking

Bowling Green police were dispatched Tuesday to the 100 block of West Gypsy Lane Road for an unconscious male.

Dispatch stated the male, identified as Jarren Salisbury, 30, Toledo, was in a Ford Fiesta on the grocery side of the store. Bowling Green Fire/EMS also responded to the scene, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

When officers arrived around 7:20 p.m., they were flagged down by the caller, who told them that he was unable to wake up Salisbury. The vehicle was running and Salisbury was found slumped over in the driver seat, according to the report.

Officers knocked on the truck’s window several times but Salisbury did not respond. Officers then opened the door and turned off the vehicle. Salisbury became semi-conscious when officers shook his arm, according to the report.

Salisbury was showing signs of overdosing. When officers asked if he had taken anything, he said no. Salisbury stated that he was tired and fell asleep. Salisbury had slurred speech when speaking to officers, according to the report.

When Salisbury exited the vehicle, he put his hands behind his back, indicating he thought he was under arrest. During this time, another male was detained in the store who was also showing signs of overdosing, according to the report.

Salisbury was taken to the hospital, where staff found two Xanax pills when treating Salisbury. Hospital staff advised officers that they were worried that Salisbury had needles on him because he was holding a sweatshirt underneath his gown, according to the report.

Officers searched Salisbury, who was asleep, and found $1,747.35 in cash along with three plastic bags with a brown powdery substance, suspected fentanyl (11.96 grams), one plastic bag of a white powdery substance (6.22 grams), one plastic bag of with a green powdery substance (0.74 grams), and 53 Xanax pills (15.90 grams), according to the report.

Salisbury was handcuffed to the gurney because the other detained male arrived at the hospital, who also showed signs of overdosing. Salisbury was asked to take a urine sample and refused, according to the report.

Salisbury was arrested for trafficking in fentanyl,, possession of drugs, and physical control/refusal. He was taken to jail.

When officers assisted in towing the Ford Fiesta, they found a crack pipe with 1.17 grams of suspected crack/cocaine, according to the report.
