Man arrested for assault outside a downtown bar

Bowling Green police were dispatched Saturday to the 100 block of North Main Street for a report of an assault.

When officers arrived around 12:53 a.m., they observed a disoriented male lying on the sidewalk who had allegedly been punched approximately four times by another male, according to the bar staff.

The male who allegedly threw the punch was identified as Evan Strifler, 22, Massilion, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Officers looked at the downtown camera footage and observed the assault that took place just outside of the doorway. Strifler was seen striking the other male approximately five times before running southbound down North Main Street. Strifler then continued eastbound on East Wooster Street attempting to cover his face, according to the report.

Officers found Strifler at his residence. He opened the door and put his hands up, according to the report.

The victim was taken to the hospital with pain in his jaw.

Strifler was arrested for assault/knowingly cause harm and was taken to jail.
