BG man arrested for assault, resisting arrest

Bowling Green police had to use pepper spray to force people who were recording a fight to back up.

Sunday around 2:17 a.m. in the 300 block of Wooster Street, officers observed a physical altercation with multiple other people attempting to record the incident, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Brandon Skalku, 21, Bowling Green, was identified as one of the fighters. The other individual’s name was redacted from the police report.

Officers gave several verbal commands to stop fighting and for the rest of the people to leave the area. Officers used pepper spray to disperse the crowd, according to the report.

Skalku was actively assaulting the other individual when officers approached them. Officers placed Skalku into hand restraints. He tried to pull his arms away from officers, according to the report.

Skalku complained of head pain, resulting from injuries he obtained from the physical altercation. The Bowling Green Fire Department transported Skalku to the hospital. Once at the hospital, Skalku was argumentative with hospital staff, according to the report.

Skalku was medically cleared and was taken to jail. He allegedly made multiple threats to officers stating that he was going to kill them, according to the report.

Skalku was arrested for assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business.
