ROSSFORD — The 2024 Award of Distinction Ceremony will be held on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Rossford Junior-Senior High School Auditorium where this year’s honoree, Neil A. MacKinnon III, will be recognized for his significant contributions to society.

MacKinnon is a member of the RHS graduating class of 1986 and the father of two children, Neil and Nadia—also Rossford High School graduates.

He works as the project manager and new business development officer for his family’s commercial roofing business, Nordmann Roofing, established in 1931.

In addition to working for his family’s firm, MacKinnon was elected mayor of the City of Rossford in November 2011, going on to be reelected in 2015 and 2019 and running unopposed in the 2023 election.

He and his administration have improved recreational opportunities with upgrades and conversions, adding pickleball courts, and the dedication of the John Folcik Park. Under his guidance, upgrades to the Rossford Marina include an area dedicated to a kayak launch and a new building for concessions, restrooms, and showers for its boaters and other visitors to Veterans Park along the river. Other additions include a road curb and sidewalk projects aimed at offering better pedestrian and family pathways. Always with a focus on the safety and security of the City and its citizens, he was also instrumental in the creation, renovation, and dedication of the Mark G. Zuchowski Safety Planning and Zoning Annex in honor of former Mayor of Rossford and longtime city servant Mark Zuchowski.

MacKinnon one of Rossford Schools biggest supporters. He is frequently seen at school events and activities, offering and providing positive support and energy to students and the district alike. He is an active member of the Bulldog Foundation, a non-profit organization raising funds and designed to enhance the student experience through teacher grants and student experiences. He is always “all-in” when it comes to his high school alma mater with the simplistic signature – “Go Bulldogs!”

The honored guest will also be recognized that evening during the homecoming football game when the Rossford Bulldogs face off with the Lake Flyers at 7 p.m. at the Jackson-Ferguson Stadium.
