Lynn Marie (Hagemeyer) Shaneyfelt

Lynn Marie (Hagemeyer) Shaneyfelt, 72, of Liberty Center, Ohio passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long 12-year battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia.

Lynn, also known by Nana to those who knew her best, was extremely devoted to her family and those she sheltered under her wings as family.

Lynn was born to James William Hagemeyer and Janet Freda Rica (Nissen) Hagemeyer of Waterville, Ohio on January 30, 1952, in Bowling Green, Ohio.

In 1985, Lynn met her prince charming and love of her life, Stephen Charles Shaneyfelt of Liberty Center, Ohio. Lynn and Steve, both married before, fell in-love and became a blended family with Lynn’s two girls and Steve’s two boys. Steve and Lynn ‘officially married’ in 1996 but was married under God several years before in a very private ceremony. Steve was an extremely devoted husband and taught their kids what true loving marriage is all about.

For the last decade, Steve took care of Lynn in their home and made sure she felt safe, loved, and comforted until her very last breath.

Lynn shared her heart with her husband and ‘her girls,’ Alyce Simpkins and K.C. Bailey, who were honored to care for their mom during her disease process and miss her incredibly. And most, Lynn loved her grandbabies by doting on them every chance she got.

Lynn also had an extreme love of all living things including spiders, snakes, farm animals, dogs, and especially cats. She was often called the ‘Cat Lady’ and loved spending time with her many outside barn cats, calling them for feedings with her special made-up kitty song. Throughout the years, she always had pets including many cats and many times saved and raised baby kittens outside who their mothers had abandoned.

Lynn graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1970 and Northwest State Community College with a Criminal Justice degree in 2000. Lynn was a super crafty woman, creative writer, entrepreneur, extremely hard worker with several different careers, and the toughest lady her family has ever met. Lynn was also full of humor, practical jokes, and the best ‘car-dance’ driver there ever was.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband, Steve, girls: Alyce (Earl) Simpkins, K.C. (Paul) Bailey, stepsons: Steve (Christa) Shaneyfelt Jr., Michael (Kristen) Shaneyfelt, brothers: David (Tami) Hagemeyer and Gary (Robin) Hagemeyer, and beloved Nana of: Brady and Ty Simpkins, E.N. Bailey, Cole, Azelin, Alexus, Neveah, Evan, and Owen Shaneyfelt.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Janet Hagemeyer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. with a service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Road, Waterville, Ohio 43566.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.

Memorial contributions in Lynn’s honor may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or an animal shelter of donor’s choosing.

The family would like to thank all of Lynn’s caregivers with Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving care, dedication, and support during Lynn’s last 14 months. Words cannot express what all the support, kind words, and care has meant to us.
