Group fled after punching a man downtown

Bowling Green police were on patrol in the 100 block of East Wooster Street on Saturday when three subjects flagged them down around 1:57 a.m.

One of the subjects was bleeding from his face and his left knee. The injured male said he was punched in the back of his head, knocking him to the ground, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

The subjects stated that they were heading back home when an unknown male approached them. The subjects told officers that the unknown male ran into the alleyway of the 100 block of West Wooster Street with a group of males standing on the opposite side of Main Street.

Officers went back to the police station to review video footage, according to the report.

The injured man told officers that he did not have any issues with anyone at the bars and refused medical treatment, according to the report.

According to the surveillance footage, three unknown males left one of the bars around 1:52 a.m. and began walking towards Wooster Street. One of the males, who was wearing a black shirt with white lettering on the front and back with blue jeans, threw the punch and the ran northbound in the alleyway in the 100 block of West Wooster Street with the other two males, according to the report.

They were seen running through City Lot 4 towards North Grove Street, where they entered a silver Toyota and the scene.

The investigation is pending, according to the report.
