Benefit to help Downard family

TONTOGANY — The Elliott Downard Saving Lives Benefit will be held Sept. 28 from 1-9 p.m. at the Sons of American Legion, 18086 Tontogany Road.

Planned for the day is entertainment by Eric “Tater” Edwards and a walking pokey walk (poker) at 2 p.m.

A corn hole tournament will start at 4 p.m. Two-man teams can register for $40.

A live auction. silent auction and bake sale will begin at 6 p.m.

There will be food available for purchase. The event is BYOB.

Downard belonged to the Local 50 pipefitters union and was in an accident on June 18. He died on June 24 and as an organ donor has blessed five other families.

Proceeds from the event will go to his widow, Ansley.
