Northwood man indicted for menacing

A Northwood man has been indicted for allegedly sending threatening text messages to a person who had filed a temporary protection order against him.

A Wood County grand jury on Sept. 3 indicted Gary Louis Racz III, 18, currently in jail, for two counts of violating a protection order, both fifth-degree felonies; and two counts of menacing by stalking, both fourth-degree felonies.

On Aug. 6, he allegedly texted an ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend telling them he was watching them. He also allegedly texted the ex-girlfriend that he would rape her, and her boyfriend couldn’t protect her. He allegedly used a different cell number every time he made contact. The ex-girlfriend had an active temporary protection order against Racz.

The grand jury also indicted:

Juan M. Solis, 52, Adrian, Michigan, for trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, both first-degree felonies with major drug offender specifications and forfeiture of property. On Sept. 12, 2023, he allegedly was found in possession of and was preparing for distribution more than 100 grams of cocaine.

The indictment classifies Solis as a major drug offender as the amount of cocaine he allegedly was found in possession of and offered to sell was at least 100 grams. If found guilty, he may have to forfeit two cell phones

John Edward Robinson, 34, of Detroit and currently in the Wayne County (Michigan) Jail, for trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony; and two counts of having weapons while under disability, both third-degree felonies. From March 6-April 3, 2023, he allegedly prepared for distribution a fentanyl-related compound. On April 13, he allegedly was found in possession of two firearms after having been convicted of a felony. If found guilty, he may have to forfeit a cell phone.

Leamond J. Hill, 32, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, for possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony. On Aug. 20, he allegedly was found in possession of more than 200 grams of marijuana.

Co-defendants Anthony Macklin, 29, and Perrell Jermaine Bothuel, 25, both of Toledo, for possession of cocaine and trafficking in cocaine, both fifth-degree felonies; and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, also a fifth-degree felony. On May 6, they allegedly were found in possession of and were preparing for distribution less than 5 grams of cocaine and were found in possession of a fentanyl-related compound. If found guilty, they may have to forfeit five cell phones and $1,405 in cash.

Tyler Brandon Campbell, 29, Lake Orion, Michigan, for failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony; and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination (OVI), both first-degree misdemeanors. On Aug. 7, he was spotted operating a stolen Chevy pickup at a speed of 95 mph southbound on I-75 near Bowling Green. Stop sticks were deployed multiple times and Campbell traveled with two deflated tires for multiple miles. He crashed into the median near Bluffton and fled on foot. He was soon apprehended and taken to jail. He provided a urine sample.

Shane C. Davis, 39, Lima, for theft, a fifth-degree felony. On July 12, he allegedly removed merchandise valued at more than $1,000 from Home Depot without consent.

James Darnell Ketchum, 31, Toledo, for grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony; theft and breaking and entering, both fifth-degree felonies. On Aug. 13, he allegedly stole a 2022 Chevy Silverado from a Rossford business. An employee told officers he keeps the truck locked inside the business and also reported the theft of tools valued at $2,100. GPS showed the truck in Toledo. It was found unoccupied in a parking lot. Approximately 20 minutes after officer’s arrival, they spotted a man approaching the vehicle. When officers approached, the man began walking away at a fast pace. His clothing matched that which was seen on security footage.

Daryen Allen Glen York, 24, Middletown, for improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony. On July 29, he allegedly transported a loaded handgun in a motor vehicle when he was under the influence. If found guilty, he may have to forfeit a Glock .45 caliber handgun.

Adam Burgess, 53, Toledo, for theft, a fifth-degree felony. On May 2, he allegedly deprived a person of $5,390 in currency by deception.
